History Of ASA Electronics
ASA Electronics was founded in 1977 by CEO Tom Irions and Kelly Rose, setting up shop in Elkhart, Indiana, amidst a booming market of recreational vehicle manufacturing and van conversion. ASA Electronics humbly began its life as a midwest regional distributor of mobile audio and visual products for a company known as Audiovox. ASA Electronics quickly developed a reputation for producing electronics designed to withstand the rigors of unique environments, with seven brands serving over half a dozen industries.
ASA Electronics understood that customers wanted more formidable electronics to stand up to harsher environments and situations. To this end, ASA Electronics chose to specialize in developing products that could withstand the intense trials and conditions found in the agricultural, commercial vehicle, construction, marine, power sport, RV, and utility trailer markets. The ASA Fabrication Division was established in the year 1981, allowing ASA Electronics to further delve into the specialty manufacturing and assembly required for the adjustments their customers were crying out for. ASA Electronics became dedicated to designing and manufacturing quality electronics that could meet customers' needs at every step through customization, installation, and stellar support.
The ASA Electronics team grew five years later in 1986 by adding their own engineering department combined with contracted manufacturers in China. A year later, in 1987, ASA Electronics developed their first wired camera system, making them an early pioneer of rear camera systems in the commercial truck industry. This camera technology was formed more than a decade before observation technology became commonly available by automotive manufacturers.
As a result of their relationships in the conversion van market, ASA Electronics developed the first-ever 13-inch DC-powered television for mobile applications, one of their earliest milestone products. This newly developed product gave manufacturers a TV they could install in converted vans, RVs, and more without requiring any adapters or custom modifications.
ASA Electronics changed its relationship with Audiovox in 1996, becoming a joint venture partner. This change in relationship included the acquisition of Audiovoxs' agricultural, construction, and heavy-duty trucking divisions.
In 1998, ASA Electronics earned its first ISO:9001 certification, further dedicating itself to the quality of its products and the prioritization of its customers' many needs. ASA Electronics dutifully upheld the seven ISO principles of quality: leadership, customer focus, process approach, engaging people, logical decision making, improvement, and relationship status. ASA Electronics has upheld its commitment to these principles, and thusly its certification, ever since.
ASA Electronics has expanded its influence with the development of products for the marine, power sport, and utility truck industries.
