Save Space in Your RV: 3 Easy Storage Hacks
No matter what size RV you have, storage can always be an issue when you’re hitting the road with your family. If you’re gearing up for summer road trips and camping adventures, you’re probably already starting to pack and get things where they need to be.
But, this year, you don’t have to stress about storage. There are a few hacks you can use without having to break the bank or change too much within your rig itself.
So, ready to save some space and stay organized this year? Let’s look at a few successful storage tips.
1. Storage Seating
With an easy swap to your dinette set, you can add extra storage space to your kitchen area. Look for benches to sit on that serve as storage options, and you can keep anything from linens to extra pillows and blankets in there. If you don’t want to invest in benches, swap out your dinette set for one with folding chairs. They tend to take up less space around the floor.
2. Stick With Shelves
Take a look at the storage space for your clothes in your RV. Many of them have tall closets where you can hang things. But, that isn’t always the most practical option when it comes to saving space.
One way to combat that is by removing the hanging rod in your closet and installing a few shelves. You can fold/roll up things like t-shirts, shorts, etc. and place them in baskets or compartments neatly, and then slide those compartments onto your shelves. You might be surprised at how much more you can fit on those shelves rather than hanging all of your clothes from a rod.
3. Install a PegBoard
The kitchen is often one of the most cluttered areas of the RV because people tend to spend a lot of time there. If you’re the cook in the family, you probably already know how annoying it can be to stack up pots and pans when you’re done with them.
By hanging up a pegboard in your kitchen, you can easily hang pots, pans, and utensils from it and save a ton of cabinet and drawer space for other things. Plus, pegboards look really cool when you set them up in the right place. They can bring a rustic/retro vibe to your RV kitchen, and you’ll easily be able to see where everything is when you need it.
Bonus Hack: Cut the Clutter
There are plenty of easy ways to save space in your RV, but one of the easiest things you can do before you even step onto your rig is to cut out some of the things you might typically bring along.
Cutting out the clutter and avoiding excess can actually make your trip less stressful and more enjoyable. A good rule of thumb is if it’s not absolutely necessary, it might be time to cut it out. Take the time to take stock in what you have, and determine what can stay and what can go.
