RV Resolutions to Make 2019 Your Most Mile-Filled Year Yet: Part 1
RV TRAVEL
The new year is finally upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about your resolutions for 2019. Sure, you could throw the old “I want to lose weight” idea into the ring again this year. And, if you want to go ahead and join a gym, that’s awesome!
But, if you want to have your cake and eat it too, why not turn your focus on some RVing resolutions for the new year?
Over the next two weeks, we’ll cover a few realistic resolutions you can make for yourself and your travel companions throughout 2019. Whether you’re an avid camper, a snowbird, or a weekend RVer, it’s never a bad idea to set new goals for your rig and your travel plans.
1. Travel More Often
Even if you consider yourself a “weekend warrior,” make more weekends available for traveling in 2019! You don’t have to go far from home to find somewhere great. Or, head to your favorite camping spot more often.
If you want to spend more extended periods traveling, our advice is to explore new places and try new experiences. Maybe you do have a favorite spot in the country, and you should add it to your list. But, don’t be afraid to visit new destinations next year.
2. Plan Ahead
Speaking of traveling more, don’t let last-minute planning stop you from hitting up the campground(s) of your dream. Hot tourist spots book up quickly. Some campgrounds require reservations months ahead of time.
So, it’s a good idea to start planning now if you want to take a trip in the summer or fall. Do your research on some popular sites, and book your stay. The more you can plan for all of your RV trips, the less stressful they’ll be (which, of course, means you’ll want to travel more often!).
3. Ditch Your Smartphone
We’re all for technology when it comes to capturing great moments, taking beautiful photos of nature, etc. But, make 2019 the year you spend less time on your devices, especially when you’re RVing or camping. You may not get that perfect, Instagram-worthy shot. But, you’ll always have the memories to share.
As you think back about your trip later, you’ll be happy that you stayed in the present moment and had a genuine experience, rather than worrying about a photo opportunity.
If you do want to document your travels and experiences, why not go old school? Carry a small journal and pen with you, and write down descriptions of every place you visit and everything you do. It’ll be a great keepsake to look back on one day, and will undoubtedly bring back even more memories than a simple picture.
We’re just getting started when it comes to some of the best RV resolutions for 2019. We’ll be back next week with a few more goals you can shoot for in the new year. Until then, winterize your rig if you haven’t already, and enjoy your holiday season!
