Keep Doors & More Open With RecPro’s RV Gas Struts

It can be really annoying to try to keep a door on your RV open or the bed lifted up while you’re trying to find something, just for the door to keep closing on you or the bed to keep falling down. RecPro can help you keep your RV doors open or your RV bed lifted with the help of these durable RV gas struts.

These gas struts are proudly made here in the USA, and can be used on your RV bed, entry doors, and much more. These gas struts are designed to attach to a 10mm ball via the 10mm ball socket end fittings, which also feature built-in locking clips that keep the gas struts securely attached. These gas struts have a stroke length of 7.87” with a length of 19.7” when extended and 11.8” when compressed. These RV gas struts offer a lifting force of 13 pounds per strut, easily keeping doors and more open and out of the way.

19.7" Gas Struts Side View*NOTICE – These RV gas struts are sold in packs of 2 or 4. Most manufacturers advise that you replace both struts at the same time. Replacing only one strut may result in additional wear and tear on the other strut and may cause failure in the future.*

Before you start: Compare your existing gas struts with the replacement gas struts, making sure that the part numbers are the same. Do not attempt to use the replacement gas strut if the part numbers do not match, as doing so can result in damage to your vehicle or injury to yourself.

It is recommended that you have someone assist you by holding the hood, trunk, or lid open as you are replacing the gas strut. If your appliance has two gas struts, one gas strut alone will not offer enough strength to hold the appliance open. A person helping you by holding the appliance open can help you avoid injury or damage.

To remove the existing gas spring: Use a small flat tool to lift the locking clip on the top of the ball socket. Only lift the locking clip enough to remove the gas strut. Do not fully remove the locking clip. Once the retaining clip is lifted, pull the gas strut off the ball stud. Repeat these steps for the other end of the gas strut.

Connect the new gas strut to the ball studs by applying a slight amount of force by hand at the ball socket, making sure that the new gas strut is mounted in the same orientation as the old gas strut. Do not use any tools, especially on the exposed black rod. Connect the rod end to the hood, lid, or trunk first. This will let the tube rotate into position for mounting to the vehicle frame if needed. Once the replacement gas strut has been properly installed, do not remove it unless you are replacing it. Open and close the hood, trunk, or lid to ensure that it is working properly.

Built with quality and durability, these RV gas struts from RecPro are all you need to reliably keep your doors and more open. Use our website to order yours today, or chat with our Customer Care Team for further assistance.
