Unfortunately, thievery is a real threat in life, and there are people out there who use a method called lock bumping to break into RVs and other dwellings. This is a lock picking technique involving the use of a bump key that will allow an intruder to enter within mere seconds. Most modern door locks are designed to protect against this egregious crime. This is one more reason why an upgrade to an older model should be considered. Thankfully, there are steps you can take to achieve the best in preventative technology for your entranceway.
Our locks are the most common entry door locks that are used with RVs for a reason. Our models feature spring bolt locks and built-in dead locks which provide the best security features. These locks are compatible with many different RV and motor home doors, so you can be sure to find a lock that snugly fits yours. Whether you are customizing a new vehicle or looking to upgrade from an older lock, we stock the best selections so you can find the right model for your needs. Older locks can deteriorate over time and not function correctly and this will require immediate replacement if you are sleeping in your RV or storing your valuables in them.
You can choose from different color finishes such as white, chrome, and black; they are as appealing- looking as they are functional. Locks for RV doors are difficult to come by as they are not often available in stores. Aside from campers, these great locks can also be used with other vehicles and mobile containment including:
- Horse trailers
- Travel trailers
- Custom utility trailers
- Cargo haulers
- 5th wheels
Dead bolts
In order to enjoy that essential peace of mind, you’ll want to have a lock that includes a built in dead bolt, or dead lock. This locking mechanism will make your door even more resistant to entry because unlike spring bolt locks, it cannot be opened unless the lock cylinder is rotated by the correct key. Standard spring bolt locks utilize a spring to hold the bolt in place, but this can potentially be opened with the application of force to the bolt. Using both a strong bolt and dead bolt will provide the best defense against break-ins for your recreational vehicle. All of our lock offerings contain dead bolts that are built-in.

- The hardware and two sets of keys are included just in case you lose one.
How to install a new door lock
Removing your old lock to upgrade to a newer and safer model is quick and easy. Simply remove the screws on both the top and bottom of the interior surface with a screw driver, and then remove the screws from the side. After that, unscrew the top knob counter clockwise to smoothly release the unit. The caulking around the sides of the exterior facing door latch can be removed with a sharp edge knife such as a box cutter, and any remaining caulking can be removed using standard glue removal cleaning chemicals. Apply caulking to your replacement unit around the frame, and simply place it in the space in the door, wiping off the excess caulking. Test out your new lock and key to ensure they are working properly and the job is done.
