3 Easy DIY Storage Ideas for Your RV
When it comes to making your RV feel like home, the more 'DIY' projects you can put into it, the better. Plus, we all know that storage is incredibly important on any rig. Thankfully, you don't always have to settle for the storage options included on your vehicle. By using a bit of creativity, you can create more storage solutions that will not only give you more space, but add a 'homey' feel to your rig.
The best part? These are inexpensive storage options, and you can use them right away. You'll love how practical they are, and how much more space you can get from your rig once you've put them in place.
1. Hanging Toiletries
It's hard to have enough space for toiletries in a house, let alone in the bathroom of a small RV. To make sure you have room for all your necessary toiletries, store them in a shoe organizer. Make sure to get a waterproof organizer with pockets. These pockets are, of course, originally meant for your footwear. But, they are great for storing things like shampoo and bottles of soap.
Not only does this give you more cupboard and vanity space in the bathroom, but it makes it convenient to have everything you need already in the shower. Some of these holders have mesh pockets, so you can see what you're looking for before you even reach for it.
2. Hide Waste, and Your Waste Basket
You might not pay much attention to the waste baskets in your rig, but take a look at them – once you do, you'll quickly realize how much unnecessary space they can take up. It's nearly impossible to get rid of waste baskets altogether in an RV, but you can 'hide' them to add more space. One of the best ways to do this is by using special hanging clips. You can then install a waste basket inside almost any cupboard. This is incredibly convenient in places like the kitchen and bathroom. Your trash will be out of sight, and you'll have that much more room.
It may seem like a small change, but it won't take you long to notice a big difference once you're not walking past waste baskets all the time.
3. Create Counter Space
If you're low on counter space in your rig's kitchen, create your own! Whether you're preparing a big meal or need extra counter space to set out all the delicious food you've made, you can easily create more room for yourself with finished pieces of wood or replacement counter top sections. You can actually cover your stove top with these pieces to create a lot of additional space. It doesn't matter if you have gas or electric in your RV, covering it temporarily, as needed, can be a big help when you need a little more counter top room.
Most storage solutions within an RV just take a little bit of creativity. By using these DIY 'hacks,' you can create more space for yourself, and make everyday living in your rig more convenient than ever.
