Atwood Mobile Products, founded in 1909 by James and Seth Atwood, started as a vacuum machine company. With the purchases of the Bowen Company in 1964, Wedgewood in the mid-1980s, Hydroflame furnaces in 1993, and Fan-Tastic Vent in 2010, Atwood grew to manufacture water heaters, gas ranges and cooktops, gas appliances, and air-exchange systems. Now solidly in the heating sector, Atwood’s skill with RV heating was noticeable through their products. In 2014, Atwood was purchased by Domestic.
Water Heaters

For their electric water heaters, you save money on fuel by using external power or getting power from your RV’s battery, making it a cost-effective heating system. The downside to electric is that it takes longer to heat up to the desired temperature, taking about an hour and a half. Their gas water heaters take much less time to heat up your water, only taking about 30-40 minutes to warm up to the right temperature. The downside to gas, though, is that it requires fuel, which you would need to supply. A third option is a tankless water heater, an on-demand water heater that only runs when you need it, saving time and energy.
Their tanks have a high capacity, resting between 6 and 10 gallons of water. Using a normal-sized showerhead, this amount of water will last you about 3-5 minutes of hot water, enough time to get clean while also conserving your water supply and making it last longer. To extend this time, you can use water-saving showerheads or a tankless water heater.
