What Are Tips & Tricks for Installing this Vinyl Rub Rail Insert?

When installing, make sure the insert will not sag or dimple. To ensure it’s properly stretched and will not shrink post install, we recommend drilling a small pilot hole at the stern through the end of the rub rail and insert, and securing it in place using a small stainless-steel set screw. This helps to ensure fitment, prevent shrinking, and holds the insert in place so it will not move horizontally through the rub rail when installing.

This insert can easily be installed with bare hands or a rubber mallet, and can be cut using garden shears, sharp scissors, or another cutting tool. For added ease when installing, use your fingers to pinch and push the insert into the channel, and consider using a hairdryer for gentle warming, if necessary.

Tube-style inserts are typically used in rub rail profiles that have a square, rectangular, or circular channel with subtle front lips that hold the insert in place. When installing, this insert should easily pop into the channel using gentle pressure with your hands or a rubber mallet.
