Nowhere else on your rig are you more exposed to a barrage of direct water, heat, and temperature than your RV's top covering. That's why when you have leaks and other elemental penetration in your rig, the majority of the time those incursions come from your roof. When this happens, what do you do? Who do you turn to? Don't worry. We have a full line of problem solving roofing kits to cover a variety of models and a myriad of problems. We're RecPro, and we're here to help.
There are two primary types of roofing applications in the RV industry: rubberized and aluminum. Don't worry fiberglass people, we know you're out there, too. While there are proponents of aluminum roofing, and it does have its "pros" in the roofing category, rubberized roofing applications are more versatile, have more durability, and stand up longer than other roofing applications when exposed to the elements. RecPro has your rubberized roofing needs in the form of EPDM and Superflex. Both types of roofing have benefits to your RV (or home application) and it's up to you how you want to secure the top of your RV. Let's take a look at the two types offered by RecPro.
EPDM: EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane (ethylene polypropylene diene terpolymer) widely used in low-slope buildings in the United States and worldwide. Its two primary ingredients, ethylene and polypropylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. EPDM is available in white and is sold a broad variety of widths, ranging from 7.5 feet to fifty feet, and in 45 mils thicknesses. EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives or specially formulated tape. EPDM is a derivative of oil and natural gas.
PVC: PVC roofing is the strongest RV membrane for roofing. It is tear-proof, puncture-proof, and has the highest tensile strength. Unlike TPO or EPDM roofing, which can become damaged from animal fat and droppings, PVC remains strong and reliable. It also has antimicrobial properties, which means you won't have to worry about mold, mildew, or algae from a rainy season. This reliable roofing membrane is 100% maintenance free. PVC is also more reflective, which means it will keep your roof and your RV noticeably cooler, keeping your temperature costs lower and you more comfortable. Flexible enough to fit around many structures and able to be applied on a sloped roof, PVC RV roofing is a really terrific option.
Superflex: Superflex RV roofing is a redesigned coverage system that has been engineered not to chalk, fade, or leave streaks like other competitive products in the RV aftermarket industry. Compared to its peer, EPDM RV rubber roof, it is lighter in weight and still maintains its strength rating.
